- W2 Contract, 12 Months (Likely Extension / Possible Conversion)
- This position is hybrid. Candidates must be comfortable working remotely on Mondays and Fridays and onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
- Candidates must be willing to be flexible for other days if needed on occasion.
Overview & Responsibilities
The Customer Application Specialist plays a central role in the Distributed Energy Resource (DER) interconnection process, by efficiently and accurately processing customer and developer applications for interconnection, and acting as the primary point of contact for applicants throughout the interconnection life cycle. The Customer Application Specialist has primary responsibility to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with developers and customers seeking to interconnect DERs to the distribution system, while delivering a Premier Customer Experience throughout the process. The Customer Application Specialist is generally the primary point of contact with for interconnection customers and developers seeking to interconnect DERs to the distribution system. As such, this role has a responsibility to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with developers and individual customers, and ensuring a Premier Customer Experience throughout the process. The Customer Application Specialist also becomes the customer “point person” for interconnection projects and ensures the timely transfer of information with customers and developers, while facilitating efficient, seamless processing of the customers’ applications throughout the interconnection life cycle. This role is critical to the successful implementation of customer interconnection projects, and continued compliance with regulatory requirements for interconnection of distributed generation facilities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience providing high-level, premier customer experience to include investigating customer inquiries, following up, and resolving and following up on complex customer inquiries.
- Experience in the retail energy industry, solar energy industry, or similar in customer service, account management, sales, or operations position.
- Experience using customer information systems to verify customer applicant information.
- Experience demonstrating skill building and maintaining professional relationships.
- Skilled using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to understand basic electrical concepts (e.g., voltage, current, power, energy).
- Ability and willingness to adhere to applicable safety regulations and policies, and to demonstrate a commitment to safety.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of utility distribution grid interconnections, net metering, renewable energy.
- Working knowledge of enterprise programs and systems that enable distribution interconnections, such as Asset Suite 8, GIS, customer information systems, etc.
- Degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience x Knowledge of regulatory issues affecting DER interconnection and metering.
- Experience identifying trends and recommending best practices for policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge and understanding of how to ensure compliance with interconnection regulations.
