Terms of Employment
- Full-Time, Permanent
- This position is onsite at Robins Air Force Base (AFB) in Warner Robins, GA.
- Clearance: Active DoD Secret (with the ability to obtain and maintain special access)
Overview & Responsibilities
This is a deeply technical, hands-on engineering role providing oversight for the sustainment and modernization of the AMRAAM Operational Flight Program (OFP). You will be a key member of the government engineering team at Warner Robins Air Force Base, ensuring the missile’s “brain” is perfectly synchronized with the Air Logistics Complex’s (WR-ALC) mission of component repair and fleet upgrades. You will be the government’s “boots-on-the-ground” expert, analyzing how OFP changes impact the hardware, and how hardware changes (like avionics repairs or motor transfers) must be supported by the software. Your work will directly ensure the long-term reliability, safety, and combat readiness of the entire AMRAAM inventory. You will…
- Technical Oversight & Analysis: Provide daily technical oversight of the prime contractor’s OFP development and software maintenance activities. Review all software designs and changes, paying special attention to impacts on the existing hardware fleet, avionics interfaces, and depot-level test systems.
- Verification, Validation, & Integration: Analyze and validate the prime contractor’s software test plans and procedures, ensuring they cover all sustainment and integration scenarios. Witness key software test events (SIL, HIL) and analyze data to verify software performance, particularly in relation to hardware changes and avionics updates being performed at WR-ALC.
- Systems Engineering & Anomaly Resolution: Lead the technical investigation of complex software deficiency reports (DRs) originating from the field, depot testing, or international partners. Serve as the software subject matter expert (SME) for all hardware/software integration challenges, working with avionics and logistics teams to find solutions. Support the Product Owner by providing technical feasibility assessments for all proposed software changes.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance. Must be eligible for, and consent to, processing for “special access” program eligibility.
- A non-negotiable minimum of three (3) years of direct, hands-on experience with the AMRAAM program (OFP, hardware, testing, systems engineering, or sustainment).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), especially software maintenance and sustainment.
- Proven hands-on experience in software/hardware integration, verification, and validation (IV&V).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a DoD sustainment environment or working at/with an Air Logistics Complex (ALC).
- Strong familiarity with embedded programming languages (e.g., Ada, C, C++) and avionics architectures (e.g., 1553 bus).
- Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulators and depot-level test equipment.
