Overview

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, code, test, and document application programs for computer systems. Collaborating with stakeholders, they define system scope and objectives. Their responsibilities encompass intricate analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software, spanning operating systems, architecture integration, and software design. Additionally, they contribute to the selection of computer systems, languages, and equipment. Adhering to established project standards and processes, the Software Engineer deconstructs software requirements and engineers highly complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs software analysis, including requirements and uses case development and design. Implements and documents source code to design specifications. 
  • Performs software testing including developing and running automated unit tests, drafting, and executing structured automated test cases. 
  • Develop and/or analyze interface design documentation. 
  • Comply with hardware and software systems standards and procedures. 
  • Build large, distributed, API-driven systems for tens of thousands of users. 
  • Assist in the estimation of development of application features.
  • Analyzes, debugs, and corrects reported software bugs and enhancements. 
  • Updates user and software documentation. 
  • Compile, assess, and report data results from software testing and analysis
  • Analyzes and implements functional requirements and designs, implements, and tests software. 
  • Performs operations & maintenance (O&M) of existing systems. 
  • Identifies areas for improvement and streamlining.
  • Writes system design and application code documentation. 
  • Gathers, analyzes, and composes technical information. 
  • Extend open-source libraries and systems as necessary to meet the needs of the team.
  • Analyzes data and provides expertise in interpreting results and gathers and documents technical and functional user requirements and specifications.
  • Participates in regular meetings, providing status on current tasks. 
  • Participates in peer reviews of software development artifacts. 
  • Continuous learning of technologies trends, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or computer science. 
  • 3 years software development experience in object-oriented language. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of extensive hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Angular, JSP, JDBC, Hibernate, JMX, JMS, Log4J, AJAX, JSF.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
  • Wide breadth of knowledge across many Java Open-Source technologies including Ant, Struts, Spring Boot, XML parser technology, SOA based infrastructure, jUnit and HTTPUnit.
  • Strong technical leadership skills. 
  • Strong knowledge in the following areas: 
    • Health Care Claims processing
    • Linux Server Support
    • AWS-Certification
    • Shell scripts/Python for automation of manual tasks
    • DevOps tools : Jenkins, Ansible, Git and familiarity with container tools Docker/Kubernetes
    • Shakeouts thru Jenkins pipeline for existing production applications
    • Control-M Automation
    • Code quality and promotion practices 
    • Test-first practices to include Test-Driven Development (TDD) for unit tests and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) for automated acceptance tests. 
    • Programming languages (e.g. C, Python, .NET Framework, Java, etc.).
    • Software development life cycle (SDLC)., Proficient
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. 
  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure) and database technologies (e.g. cloud, SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, etc.). 
  • Fundamental knowledge of software engineers’ best practices, agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines.
