Software Product Owner, AMRAAM OFP (Sustainment & Modernization)

Terms of Employment

  • Full-Time, Permanent
  • This position is onsite at Robins Air Force Base (AFB) in Warner Robins, GA.
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret (with the ability to obtain and maintain special access)

Overview & Responsibilities
This is a high-impact, strategic leadership opportunity to serve as the Software Product Owner for the AMRAAM Operational Flight Program (OFP) at Warner Robins Air Force Base. This role is central to the missile’s sustainment and modernization, supporting the Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC) mission. You will be the government’s primary technical authority responsible for defining the “what” and “why” for the OFP. You will manage the software’s evolution as it integrates with depot-level component repairs, avionics upgrades, and life-extension programs. You will act as the crucial interface between the WR-ALC logistics and engineering teams, operational users, and the prime contractor to ensure the entire AMRAAM fleet remains lethal, reliable, and supportable. You will…

  • Sustainment-Focused Backlog Management: Own, define, and prioritize the OFP software backlog, with a focus on requirements driven by sustainment needs, hardware obsolescence, avionics integration, modernization programs, and new operational threats. Translate complex logistics and component-level upgrade requirements into clear, actionable epics, features, and user stories for the prime development contractor.
  • Agile & Stakeholder Leadership: Serve as the primary government representative in all Agile/Scrum ceremonies (e.g., PI Planning, Sprint Reviews), representing the unique needs of the sustainment mission. Act as the “voice of the customer,” consolidating input from WR-ALC engineers, depot maintainers, and international partners (who use the base for reviews).
  • Technical & Lifecycle Oversight: Approve software release plans and accept or reject completed software builds from the prime contractor, ensuring they meet all sustainment and operational requirements. Ensure all new OFP builds are validated for integration with existing missile configurations, depot-level test equipment, and updated hardware components (e.g., repaired avionics). Champion a “life cycle” view, ensuring software changes do not negatively impact logistics, maintainability, or long-term supportability.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance. Must be eligible for, and consent to, processing for “special access” program eligibility.
  • A non-negotiable minimum of three (3) years of direct experience with the AMRAAM program (OFP, hardware, testing, systems engineering, or logistics).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline (This is a technical PO role).
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or lead systems engineer in an Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environment.
  • Strong background in complex embedded systems and a comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), particularly in a sustainment context.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a DoD sustainment environment or with a Program Office or Air Logistics Complex (ALC).
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM).
  • Familiarity with avionics, hardware/software integration, and depot maintenance processes.
