Subject Matter Expert, Linux Administration

Terms of Employment

  • Full-Time, Permanent
  • Work Schedule: Onsite (4 days/week), Remote (1 day/week), Travel (1 day every 2-3 weeks to Warrenton, VA)
  • Location: Ft. Washington, MD (Primary)
  • Required Clearance: Active Top Secret with eligibility for SCI

Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking a high-level Linux Systems Subject Matter Expert to provide technical leadership and advanced engineering support for mission-critical environments. This role is not merely about maintenance; it requires a deep-tier specialist capable of kernel-level tuning, performance optimization, and the integration of Dassault Systèmes Cameo (No Magic) suite within a secure, multi-site architecture. The successful candidate will be the primary technical authority for Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability and peak performance for complex modeling and simulation workflows. You will…

  • Perform deep-dive troubleshooting and performance optimization using CLI-level mastery. This includes kernel parameter tuning, memory management optimization, and I/O scheduling to support data-intensive MBSE tools.
  • Support and optimize the Cameo Systems Modeler (and associated No Magic products) environment. This includes managing Teamwork Cloud (TWCloud) deployments, coordinating updates, and ensuring seamless integration with underlying Linux distributions.
  • Develop sophisticated scripts (Bash, Python, or Ansible) to automate repetitive tasks, hardening procedures, and environment provisioning.
  • Maintain rigorous security standards in accordance with TS/SCI protocols. Apply STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and manage RMF (Risk Management Framework) requirements without compromising the performance of the Cameo environment.
  • Act as the technical bridge between the Ft. Washington and Warrenton facilities, ensuring configuration parity and reliable data synchronization across geographically dispersed nodes.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Expert-Level Linux Administration

  • Extensive experience in a “headless” environment. You should be comfortable navigating complex filesystems, managing processes, and debugging network stacks exclusively via the command line.
  • Proven ability to modify kernel parameters (sysctl), manage modules, and optimize the OS for specific application workloads (e.g., database performance for TWCloud).
  • Expertise in LVM, NFS, and encrypted storage solutions (LUKS) within a Linux context.

Dassault Systèmes / Cameo Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, Teamwork Cloud, and Cameo Collaborator.
  • Knowledge of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning required to keep Cameo/MagicDraw running efficiently under heavy model loads.
  • Understanding of the licensing servers (FlexNet/FlexLM) associated with Dassault products.

Security & Clearance

  • Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (Active TS/SCI is highly preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RHEL/CentOS or Rocky Linux in a secure government environment.
  • Background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) workflows.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker/Podman) or orchestration (Kubernetes) for deploying No Magic services.
