Terms of Employment
- W2 Contract, 12 Months (Likely Extension / Permanent Conversion)
- This is a hybrid position. The selected candidate must be comfortable working onsite in Oakbrook Terrace, IL on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
- Occasional site visits (roughly once per month) in Northeast, IL is required. The selected candidate must have a personal vehicle.
Overview & Responsibilities
Work with a leading electric utility company in the Illinois territory as a Project Manager for the Transmission Interconnection Department. In this role, you will be the primary lead for large-scale power projects, specifically helping wind and solar developers connect their renewable energy to the transmission grid. - Manage a portfolio of 5-7 transmission interconnection projects with budgets ranging from $2M to $30M.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, including the “Phase Zero” facility study and scope of work.
- Drive the RFP process to secure engineering and construction resources, including bid evaluation and contract awards.
- Manage monthly financials, cash flows, and project forecasting.
- Coordinate various scopes of work including civil construction, electrical work, environmental testing, and real estate/easements.
- Present project updates and budget estimates to leadership to navigate a “Phase Gate” authorization process.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience managing a portfolio of projects with multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Experience in the Utility industry (Electric, Gas, Water, Sewer, or Telecom).
- Ability to read engineering plans, diagrams, and understand basic electrical infrastructure (transformers, poles, voltage).
- Proven experience in financial management, including forecasting and managing project spend.
- Must have a personal vehicle for monthly site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP Certification.
- Experience specifically in Electric Transmission or Distribution.
- Prior experience managing large-scale renewable energy (Wind/Solar) interconnections.
