Overview
Our client is seeking a Power BI Data Engineer & Visualization Specialist to design, develop, and maintain Microsoft Fabric-powered dataflows, analytical tools, and visualizations that drive business insights. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data engineering, experience working with multiple programming languages, and a strong background in building scalable and efficient analytical solutions using modern cloud and BI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Power BI Development & Visualization:
- Design and develop Power BI datasets, dataflows (including Microsoft Fabric Dataflows Gen2), reports, and dashboards for data visualization and analytics.
- Optimize DAX calculations and Power Query (M language) for performance and efficiency.
- Build user-friendly, interactive, and insightful visual representations of data.
- Leverage Microsoft Fabric’s OneLake and Lakehouse capabilities to build unified reporting experiences.
- Data Engineering & Integration:
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Power BI Dataflows Gen2, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft Fabric pipelines to transform, clean, and aggregate data for reporting.
- Connect to and integrate data from multiple sources including SQL databases, APIs, cloud storage, and third-party applications.
- Implement robust data governance, security, and best practices in data management using Microsoft Purview or Fabric-native tools.
- Programming & Automation:
- Use Python, SQL, or R for advanced data manipulation, automation, and analytics.
- Develop automation scripts to streamline BI workflows.
- Utilize Microsoft Fabric environments such as Lakehouse and Data Engineering experiences to handle large-scale data processing.
- Analytical Tool Development:
- Build predictive models, forecasting tools, and customized BI solutions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and build bespoke analytical tools using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric notebooks.
- Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques as needed.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and IT teams to understand business needs and deliver actionable insights.
- Provide training and documentation for Power BI and Fabric-based solutions.
- Ensure consistency, reliability, and accuracy across reporting layers.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, data engineering, and visualization.
- Deep understanding of Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M language), and data modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python/R for data processing.
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, especially Dataflows Gen2, OneLake, and Lakehouse architecture.
- Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, and cloud data integration.
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture, data warehousing, and data governance.
- Demonstrated experience building scalable and interactive dashboards.
- Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric workloads including Data Engineering and Data Science.
- Exposure to Big Data technologies like Apache Spark, Delta Lake, or Hadoop.
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and libraries.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-300, DP-203, Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate).
